Days to go : 78
Working closer to home has allowed me to do a few hours in the evenings. Unfortunately I have had a few issues with fuel quality so Tuesday evening was spent draining the main tank, cleaning the sedimenter and changing the fuel filters.
There was a build up of red granular sludge in the small inline filter and in the sedimenter. Neither I, Alan nor any of the army lads had any idea what it was. Obviously something had reacted in the fuel system and was causing a blockage.
The veg oil was crystal clear and the main fuel filter was fine. Once it was bled through the system is now working fine again although I shall run her on diesel only for a while whilst I refilter the fuel.
I am slowly progressing the EGT, oil and water instrument guage installation. I have discovered that the 4 digital guages from Auber Instruments fit exactly in the pop-out cup holder space. So I have been modifying this over a few evenings. I shall write a full account once the job is complete.
The last time I published my 'snagging list' was in April. Ifeel that an update is required:
- Complete relay installation in rear for rooflights, inverter, etc. (complete)
- Connect up the rear worklights (complete)
- Connect up the front spotlights
- Fix the upper snorkel bracket
- Add some side supports to the front bumper
- Fix the protective cover over the water bag (complete)
- Extend the fuel tank breathers (complete)
- Wire up and calibrate the compass (complete)
- Wire up the FW pump (complete)
- Add a protective grill in front of the intercooler
- Optimise the fuel pump
- Add net pockets where needed (complete)
- Fix the 'safe' in place (complete)
- Secure down the boot storage system (complete)
- Add window screens (complete)
- Fit the new stereo and dashboard controls (complete)
- Add the EGT, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp and water temp guages
- Sort out bottle storage for oils etc.
So, as you can see, progress is being made, although there are still a few jobs to go.
