"No man can live this life and emerge unchanged. He will carry the imprint of the desert, the brand which marks the nomad; and he will have a yearning to return. For this cruel land can cast a spell which no temperate climate can match."

65 days to go

Today was a disappointing and expensive day.  Despite all the effort I have put into the car to replace parts and maintain her so she is as reliable as possible, it still doesn't stop things going wrong.

This time I can't blame the mechanical systems though.

I had noticed a slight bulge in the side of the rear tyre few weeks ago, so I swapped it for the spare on the rear door.  Unfortunately the one I swapped it for developed a 'not so slow' puncture.  Going flat in 24 hoursCry.

Fortunately I currently work in Norwich so a quick trip to JSF and £300 later I now have two brand new rear tyres,  I have stuck with the Goodyear MTRs because I have had, at least, 6 years and 40000+ miles use out of them.  Goodyear have just brought out a new version with kevlar reinforcing and a different tread pattern.  Fortunately JSF had 2 of the original pattern left.  Although the new ones may be better I wanted all the tyres to match.

Lets hope things settle down now as there isn't much left to replace or repair and we have to save our pennies now for the trip..
