Today was a very productive day. The weather stayed dry and I was able to achieve a few small jobs that had been sitting on the list for a while.
|
I had always worried about how exposed the intercooler was sitting below the bumper. A stray stone or other onject could fly up and cause some damage. |
|
At Stoneleigh I bought a small section of aluminium mesh for £15. It cut quite easily with side cutters. I used the top bolts of the steering guard and the rear mounting bolts of the winch. Hopefully this will provide a degree of protection. |
The next job was to mount the front fire extinguisher. This was bolted to the side of the seat mounting in a position which avoids contact with the front door pocket. |

The final job of the day was to wire in the front spotlights which had sat on the bullbar looking good but not working. I used the supplied Hella relay and connected them to the front main beam supply. They now work in conjunction with the main beam. I my add an isolation switch at a later date. We now have the up to date itinerary for the trip from Atlas Overland and I will update the trip article soon. I have also updated the website template with a new menu system and page layout. I hope you feel it's an improvement. During the week we shall be packing our clothes, sorting the tools and spares and doing a major food shop. |
