As expected today went exactly to plan. Unfortunately who dreamed up this plan didn't inform us.
It started reasonably with a trip over to Alan's who helped me set the tappets on the car. They hadn't been set since the new engine had been fitted, which was very naughty of me. All of them required around half a turn to set them correctly. The journey home was much quieter and smoother.
While this was being done Belinda was out food shopping. Unfortunately she wasn't able to get enough gluten free bread so I diverted to a couple of stores in Bungay and Beccles. luckily between them they had enough on the shelves. I just pity anyone else with coeliacs disease that wants a bit of toast over the weekend as we cleared the shelves in 3 towns.
We came back home for a bit of lunch. the car was booked into Kwikfit to have the aircon recharged at one o'clock.
Unfortunately when we returned to pick the car up we were told by Ian at kwikfit that there was a major leak. To cut a long story short; two hours later, a soldering iron, plenty of plastic metal and some duck tape the aircon was recharged and running perfectly.
Grateful thanks to Ian who let me work in the kwikfit garage, recharged the system twice and gave plenty of other help.
This delayed things a lot, which meant that I didn't finish changing the engine and autogearbox oil, changing the fuel filters and greasing the propshafts until gone six o'clock.
As a result we will now leave at lunchtime tomorrow rather than first thing. This will give us a relaxed morning to do a final sort out.
We hope to get just the other side of the chunnel aim for Dijon on Monday and arrive at the rendezvous as planned on Tuesday.
Keep watching......
