"No man can live this life and emerge unchanged. He will carry the imprint of the desert, the brand which marks the nomad; and he will have a yearning to return. For this cruel land can cast a spell which no temperate climate can match."
Wilfred Thesiger, Explorer.

Day 1 over

Distance driven so far : 508 miles
Current location : Etap Hotel, Dijon

At last, a decent keyboard :o)

Unfortunately the internet connection is painfully slow so I can't upload any photos.  Although to be honest there's not much to show you.

After an early start everything was going well.  The weather was a bit showery but for the most part beautifully sunny all through France.

The toll roads we wonderfully empty (although fairly costly at 50 euros so far).  After 23 games of "I spy with my little eye something beginning with 'R'.....er Road?, Correct"  we got bored and started to count the lovely birds of prey that were sitting at regular intervals on the fence post by the side of the road.  Now I'm not complaining the A26 is a fantastic road, but it's just so boring

The views were impressive, the weather was good the car was running well and then.......

......nothing.  Yep all is still well in the orange disco world.  I know, boring isn't it, sorry.

If makes you any happier it did start to pour down with rain just as we arrived in Dijon and we got soaked trying to find a restaurant.

Tomorrow we shall set off fairly early and stop in an Aire to make ourselves some breakfast.

We hope to arrive at the campsite in Avignon mid afternoon so that we can settle in in plenty of time before it gets dark.

As always I will up date you as we go along.  We're glad to see that the tracker is working okay.

Derinda would probably like some onions, and there was something in a Renault advert I always quite fancied, think her name was Nicole.......
